Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has backed Arsenal’s William Saliba to become the best center-back in the world. Ferdinand also mentioned that the only player at Manchester United who could rival Saliba in the near future is Leny Yoro.
Saliba impressed when Arsenal defeated Manchester United 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium in a Premier League match on Wednesday. The French defender scored the second goal for the Gunners in that victory.
“I believe Saliba will become the best center-back in the world,” Ferdinand told the media. “He will take over that position once Virgil van Dijk steps aside.”
Ferdinand also pointed out that the only player he sees potentially challenging Saliba soon is Leny Yoro, who plays for Manchester United.
Since returning from his loan spell away from Arsenal, Saliba has gained immense confidence and is now regarded as one of the top defenders in the Premier League.
